Jersey wrasse bashing

I was lucky enough to be able to spend a week on Jersey last week with a couple of old friends, Derek Hairon of Jersey Kayak Adventures, and Keith White of Jersey Bass Guides. I went over for a week to sort out some BCU stuff with Keith and Derek so that they can start to run kayak fishing training courses, but while I was there it would have been rude not to have picked Keith's brain about fishing with soft plastic lures off the kayak, after all the method really came to the UK via Jersey.

I had a magnificent paddle with Keith, covering around 7 miles of Jerseys amazingly beautiful cost line, ending up about 3 miles out on a deserted bunch of pinnacles, and Keith was very generous in his help and advice. I've brought a load of gear back to Devon with me, but more importantly, I've now got the method nailed, and I'm looking forward to giving it a go behind Thatcher rock as soon as the weather sorts itself out. Full details of my trip will be in next month's Sea Angler, on sale around the 3rd August.
